USACE News:ALBUQUERQUE 鈥?聽The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Albuquerque District USACE-Albuquerque District signed a new water storage agreement June 26 for Abiquiu Reservoir with the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority ABCWUA .聽 Were here to celebrate resilience, adaptation, partnerships, all of those things that are absolutely critical to do, said Michael Connor, Assistant Secretary of the Army Civil Works . It all starts with using our existing infrastructure in much better ways to advance as many interests as possible, Connor said.Section 337 of the Water Resources Development Act 2020 modified existing Congressional auth stanley ca oriza stanley termos tions at Abiquiu Reservoir Public Law 97-140 and Public Law 100-522 to allow more flexibility for concurrent storage of U.S. Bureau of Reclamation San Juan-Chama project water and Rio Grande system water, while changing the authorized water supply storage limit within the flood control space.This change functionally increases Abiquiu Reservoirs storage capacity from 200,000 acre feet to approximately 230,000 acre feet. This will allow additional storage space for the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority ABCWUA as well as other agreement holders. MATTIE EARL WHITSON SQUIRES Jan. 15, 1926鈥?March 23, 2017Mattie Earl Whitson Squires was born on January 15, 1926, in Achille, Oklahoma and grew up in New Mexico and West Texas. She passed away on March 23, 2017, in Los Alamos, New Mexico at the age of 91. In 1946, Mattie Earl married Billy Warren Squires in Littlefield, Texas. After residing in Arvada, Colorado for over 50 years, M stanley us attie Earl retired to Pueblo, Colorado in 2003. She then moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico in 2015.She was very proud of her career working for the federal government in Washington, D stanley polska . C., Lubbock, Texas and Denver, Colorado. Mattie Earl also loved spending time with her family 鈥?especially her grandchildren. She was also an avid bridge player and enjoyed going to the theater.Mattie Earl is survived by her brother Robert Whitson; daughter, Cindy Wolfgang Dworzak; daughter-in-law Eileen Squires; grandchildren Patricia Dworzak, Bradley Patricia Dworzak, Lee Claire Squires and Maggie Squires; great grandchildren, Theodore, P stanley quencher ayton and Ruari.
