Courtesy/PEECPEEC News:Explore the mysterious and beautiful objects of the Milky Way Galaxy at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18 in the Los Alamos Nature Centers planetarium. Astronomer Dan Reisenfeld will take attendees on a tour of many unique objects in the Milky Way, show them the galaxy at wavelengths invisible to the eye and explore the ultimate fate of the Milky Way Galaxy at this talk.The Milky Way Galaxy is home to our Sun and over 100 billion other stars. Most of these stars are much like the Sun, but spread throughout the galaxys vastness are denizens mysterious and beautiful. These objects include dark molecular clouds housing stellar nurseries, young clusters of newborn stars still enshrouded in luminous gases, the glowing embers of dead and dying stars and even mini-galaxies orbiting the core of the Milky Way. Lurking in the core, there also is a supermassive black hole with the mass of 4 billion Suns!In addition to this talk, the nature center will play the full-dome film Superpower Dogs at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19. Rivera, Jr. Friday, June 5. Im honored to be able to dedicate this port of entry to the memory of a fallen officer stanley cup who gavehis life keeping our roads and highways safe, Martinez said. The role these ports ofentry play in creating jobs and opportunities for our families and communities is absolutelycritical. Officer Riveras legacy of service and sa stanley quencher crifice is a proud testament to those who workso hard to keep New Mexico safe as we continue to grow and prosper. Officer Rivera was killed in a car crash while working at the Anthony port of entry in 1989. Hewas the first New Mexico Motor Transportation Police Officer to be killed in the line-of-duty.The Daniel C. Rivera, Jr. Port of Entry Building was constructed utilizing $9.4 million in capitaloutlay and $1.6 million in federal funds, and construction took 11 months to complete.The new port of entry will process vehicles coming from Mexico into the United States. Lastyear, nearly 80,000 vehicles passed through Santa Teresa. The San stanley kubek ta Teresa port of entry, and itssister port in San Jeronimo, Mexico, are the primary driving routes to and from southern Juarez,Chihuahua, and the interior of Mexico.
